Ilene C. Wasserman, Ph.D.

BiographyIlene Wasserman has over 30 years of experience in Organizational Consulting, Leadership Development and Executive Coaching. As President of ICW Consulting Group, and Senior Leadership Fellow at the McNulty Leadership Program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Ilene works with leaders and their teams to develop and communicate their strategic vision, enhance their leadership presence and fine tune the skills required to succeed with their challenging business objectives. Ilene uses her expertise with a variety of assessment instruments to support the personal and professional insights necessary to achieve success. Her clients benefit from her keen inquiry and targeted and actionable feedback. Ilene has worked with senior executives of Fortune 100 companies, financial institutions, health care institutions as well as institutions of higher education, and community-based groups. She teaches graduate courses in organizational development and leadership, collaboration in complex systems, action learning, leading change, global leadership, emotional and social intelligence, and group dynamics at the graduate level. As a Wharton Senior Leadership Fellow, she has worked as lead coach and learning director with the AMP program, and coaches participants in the MBA, EMBA, Women’s Executive Leadership Program as well as with clients of Wharton Executive Education. Ilene received her Ph.D. from the Fielding Graduate university in Human and Organizational Development. She also holds Masters Degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Social Work from Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University in Human Development. She was the keynote ‘interviewer” at the Columbia University Coaching Conference in 2014 where she engaged with Ed Schein on the topic of ‘Humble Inquiry” and has presented and published on topics such as “Culture Change and Strategic Conversations”, “Leveraging Diversity and Inclusion in Creating High Performing Workplaces”, “Using Appreciative Inquiry for Strategy and Process Excellence. She is the co-author of Communicating Possibilities: A Brief Introduction to the Coordinated Management of Meaning and Peer Coaching at Work: Principles and Practices as well as several articles and book chapters. She is certified to administer several instruments used in coaching individuals and teams such as the Hogan, Emotional Intelligence Assessments, (MSCEIT, EQi, and the ESCI), the IDI, (Intercultural Development Inventory), the Bates Executive Presence Assessment, and MBTI. Ilene also serves on several professional boards including the Board the CMM Institute, and The Lewin Center and has served on the Board of Governors and Executive in Residence at the Center for Creative Leadership. Dr. Wasserman is active in her community and serves on the Lower Merion Human Relations Committee.
