Dr. Satish P. Deshpande is the dean of Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business, the academic home to approximately 3500 graduate and undergraduate students.
Deshpande earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Bombay and a doctoral degree from the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business. He began his professional career as a personnel officer at Sandoz (currently Novartis) before beginning his academic career as a teaching and research assistant at Iowa. Deshpande's teaching specialty is human resource management. He is the first faculty member to receive the Haworth College of Business Dean’s Teaching Award and also the Haworth College of Business Research Award. He has more than 90 refereed articles published in various journals and books. He has been quoted on TV, radio and in various newspapers including the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
