Biography

Chao Miao, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Management in the Department of Management, Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, Salisbury University. He was previously on the faculty of the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business & Leadership, Wilkes University. His research focuses on emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, leadership, personality, cross-culture, performance, and meta-analysis. He received his Ph.D. in management from Virginia Commonwealth University. One of his main research streams is to study how emotional intelligence predicts various attitudinal and behavioral outcomes based on cross-cultural perspectives. In addition to his contributions to the fields of organizational behavior and human resource management, his research publications have also contributed some noteworthy findings regarding the importance of emotional intellignce for the fields of entrepreneurship, hospitality management, leadership, and marketing. He is a recipient of 2017 Citation of Excellence Award due to the impact of his research. He serves as an Associate Editor of Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility, and is on the Editorial Boards of Applied Psychology: An International Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Small Business Economics, Management Decision, and International Journal of Technoentrepreneurship. He previously served on the Editorial Board of Journal of Vocational Behavior (from 2020 to 2023). He has published in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Human Resource Management Review, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Research in Personality, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of World Business, Marketing Letters, Personality and Individual Differences, Small Business Economics, World Development, and other journals.
